Bangor Golf Club

Bangor Golf Club is situated not far from the centre of the seaside town on the north coast of County Down. The course reflects the character of the county with its undulating parkland course overlooking Belfast Lough, the Antrim Hills, Irish Sea and on a clear day Scotland.

Bangor Golf Club was founded in 1903 with a nine-hole golf course. The 18-hole layout was designed by James Braid (five times “Open” winner) and although it has been modified it still retains many of its original features.

Although not an especially difficult course, it is enough of a challenge to entertain good players without discouraging the less able. Golfers of note to have come from the club include Norman Drew (Walker and Ryder Cup player) and Garth McGimpsey MBE (Walker Cup player and Captain).
